One of the most important time periods in a person’s life is young adulthood. This is basically a time period where people range from their early 20s to their late 30s. During this journey of not only finding and understanding themselves in the world but also creating their own identity, they go through a lot. They also start focusing on their psychological needs and on the development and maintenance of different relationships. They start to differentiate between what friendship, love, and intimacy are.
It is a big and drastic change in a person's life that is filled with a lot of excitement. Other than these exhilarated feelings, they also find themselves fighting through a lot of nervousness, uncertainty, and ample stress. Imagine a young adult as a captain of a ship who is sailing without a map in an unknown region where they are bound to face many obstacles like sea monsters and life-threatening weather. Now think of these sea monsters and life-threatening weather as stress and anxiety that a person feels. They are expected to solve these problems smoothly and freely, even when they face obstacles.
Many young adults often find themselves in a struggle and a tussle between the desire for independence and the comfort of childhood. This leads to an increase in stress and anxiety among them. It can occur because of a small decision or even a big decision. They have to navigate without a map in an unknown world, which can be quite challenging.
