Did you know that 1 in 5 students experience a mental health issue each year? what does school do to prioritize the mental health of students?
In today's fast-paced world, mental health has become a serious concern, especially for students. Academic pressure, family problems, social media pressure, peer pressure, etc., are crucial to handle. Living up to everyone's expectations isn't easy. Schools, being the central part of students' lives, have a unique role in supporting the mental well-being of students.
School as Safe Place
For many students' schools is like their second home. This is the place where students spend their most of time, build new connections, and develop their personalities. This makes school a difficult place for promoting mental health awareness and providing emotional support. Creating a safe space is the first step. school can help in mental health by open communication, teaching empathy, having a counselling session once a week. encouraging students to speak about their feelings normalize showing an emotion, feeling etc. can also safe space
The importance of counselling
counselling Servies are the best of coping any mental illness in school also. professional counsellors provide a safe and comfortable space to speak what's in their mind. Whether it's about exams, family or feeling of loneliness. Counselling can help students process their emotions; feelings develop coping mechanisms. Students can often find comfort in knowing they are not alone in this; someone is there who understands them. Schools have to organize regular check ins for students, where they can discuss their mind However, counselling should not be limited to crisis situations. it should be taken every once in a while, so the record is maintained.

A Better Future
“"WHEN SCHOOL PRORITIZE MENTAL HEALTH, THEY ARE NOT JUST PREPARING STUDENTS FOR EXAMS BUT FOR LIFE."”

when schools prioritize the mental health of students, they should not only focus on academics but also emotionally and socially. A school that values mental health would have comparatively mentally happy students and if our mind is calm, we can think well, and the creativeness would be also high, and the students would take the decisions easily.
By focusing on mental health school are creating a generation of compassionate, confident, and empathetic students ready to change the cruel society's rule and breaking the stigma's such as
Men don't cry, the people who take therapy are mad, the people who cry are weak etc.
